Dr. Vlasta Krmelj holds a PhD in chemical technology and has been the director of the Energy and Climate Agency for Podravje for 16 years. She holds the title of European Energy Manager, is an expert in strategic energy climate planning and management, and an expert in the transition to climate neutrality in companies with a certificate from the University of Cambridge. Her main area of work is the implementation of climate neutrality activities in the public sector.
She is currently serving her second term as Vice-President of the European Association of Energy and Environment Agencies and Regions for Financing and a member of the Scientific Council of the traditional World Sustainable Energy Days conference in Wels, Austria. She has 25 years of work experience in the field of environmental protection, climate change, sustainable development and European projects. She has led over 30 local and EU co-financed projects. As a lecturer, she lectures at conferences and workshops for various target groups. She advises organizations on the transition to climate neutrality, energy efficiency and the introduction of renewable energy sources. Since 2018, she has also been the Mayor of the Municipality of Selnica ob Dravi.
